Friday, Week Nine: 02/03/01

This is a blatant rip-off of a cartoon that I did in 1999 with different (yet similar) characters under the heading of The Adventures of Syphilis the Sock and Anthrax the Fish. I hate having to steal ideas of old cartoons I've done, but this one was just too tempting. And besides, all the "great" cartoonists rip off their own characters, for example - the characters and storylines of Scooby-Doo are essentially the same as those from the underwater-set cartoon Jabberjaw, both of which are Hannah-Barbera cartoons. Likewise, observe the similarities between The Smurfs and their underwater counterparts, The Snorks. Also The Flintstones vs The Jetsons and Inch High Private Eye vs Secret Squirrel. Then you've got Disney animovies, which are all based on the same characters: HERO with his SIDEKICKS (one fat, one thin, who act out the evil/good parts of his conscience), his WOMAN, his PARENT(S), who usually have some great injustice made against them by the VILLAIN and his EVIL SIDEKICK(S) for comic relief. Invert the genders of these characters if need be. The cheesy songs are the same for each movie too (listen to the songs from The Lion King and The Little Mermaid).
