Circa 1996: Why DID the Chicken Cross the Road?
Finger lickin' good!

I recently found this hilarious little scribble in an old school exercise book that I remember scribbling a lot of stuff in since mid-1995. The sketches of the "gasping geeks" below were for the epic, long-running comic series that I did a lot on during 1996 and 1997, so this cartoon must be from that era. The messiness factor of the Chicken cartoon indicates that it may have been drawn in mid-1996.
Yes, the "Hi!" frame that was scribbled out means that I drew the frame and then realised that it would not contain the scene that I was about to draw inside it. Back in those days, I also used to draw speech bubbles and then write the words inside them, with little planning (or difficulty).

I now seem to find the chicken cartoon more funny than when I drew it. Maybe its the implied expressions of disappointment on the faces of the scientists who are mourning the failure of their experiment, as opposed to the look of terminal confusion on face of the twisted-up chicken? It's funny how while some things get increasingly LAME with age, others mature into classics.
